Here’s what the iPhone 13 rumors are trying to tell you
Author: Christopher Brown
A new teaser, a secret benchmark score, and a fresh design leak of Apple’s most speculated model, iPhone 13, have started to float on the Web. This pretty much sums it up for just about any smartphone launch rumor that’s out there. Now, let’s take a look at what can you expect from Apple’s next masterpiece. The smartphone is speculated to release in September 2021.
- External body
When Apple brought back the latest iPhone 12 flat sides design, it was pretty nostalgic. So there’s a good chance the iPhone 13 will not change its exterior design. We’re most likely in for sizes ranging from 5.4 inches (just like the iPhone Mini) to the massive 6.7 inches (iPhone 12 Pro Max). Although, we are hoping for some new color variants. - Camera setup
The camera bump may be replaced from separate glass bumps for each lens to a single sheet of glass. As for the camera performance, the iPhone 13 rumors suggest that Apple is working on new lenses, new sensors, and wider adoption of a sensor-based stabilization for the entire new lineup. - Notchless design
The notch is an aspect of the iPhone lineup since the iPhone X. However, based on rumors, Apple plans to reduce or remove the notch in the upcoming series. But the company needs to figure out how to place the Face ID camera modules below the screen. The truth is, Apple’s TrueDepth is very complex, which makes hiding it equally challenging. - The foldable smartphone
Among other iPhone 13 rumors going around, there’s one that says Apple plans on launching their first foldable device. Sure, they have published a few patents. However, Apple conducts a lot of research before releasing a product into the market. And based on how the current foldable performs in the market, we doubt Apple has any plans of launching one soon. But who knows, right? - The portless smartphone
Apple has already cut down on the number of ports in the MacBooks, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they went portless with the iPhone 13. The report had come from Ming-Chi Kuo, a notable analyst. But Kuo has also withdrawn his statement saying that Apple’s MagSafe, well, its ecosystem isn’t mature enough. Right now, the Lightning port is where Apple feels safe and many users like it like that. - Refresh rate
Apple does not disclose the iPhone’s refresh rates. If you don’t know this already, the iPhone 12 models have a 60Hz, just like the iPhone 11 displays. But now that some Android competitors have moved on to 120Hz, predictions suggest that even Apple will follow suit with the iPhone 13 Pro. Apple will make this happen using the LTPO technology in their Pro displays to amp up the refresh rate to 120Hz. - The upgrade cost
Based on speculations, the iPhone 13 models may not be a major upgrade from its predecessor. So even when it comes to price, there’s a chance its price will hover close to the iPhone 12 models. If you want to know, the iPhone 12, which started at $799, spiked revenue and profit, making it the largest in Apple’s history. Given those circumstances, the company is likely to try the same pricing structure again. - New name
We know that all of us are eager for the launch of the iPhone 13, but once again, there’s a chance that Apple may ditch the iPhone 13 name and go with iPhone 12S with a minor technical upgrade. That said, the iPhone 13 Mini, Pro, and Pro Max are still in the mix.
